Assets and liabilities each get a categorized list with a share of the total and a second-currency column at a rate you set. Once a month you copy two totals into a snapshot row. Thirty-six of those rows build a trend with a three-month average through it, the months that went backwards counted, and the average monthly change.

The snapshot rows are typed rather than linked, and that is deliberate. If each month pulled from your holdings, then updating what your car is worth today would silently rewrite last March, and the history you bought the file for would stop being true. History has to survive editing the present, and the only way to guarantee that is for it not to be a formula. The three-month average stays blank until three months exist, because an average of one point is that point wearing a different label.
